Homeline Architecture's Bluff Drive Cottage project on Isle of Hope has been named a recipient of a 2025 Philip Trammell Shutze Award by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) Southeast Chapter. The firm was recognized for its work on the historic cottage, honored in the category of Architecture, Renovation under 2500 square feet. "This project was built on trust and guided by a client whose discerning taste made it a true partnership from start to finish," said John Deering, Homeline's Director of Design. "Together, we honored the cottage's history by returning the original floor plan, only altering it to meet modern needs. Every decision was made with intention, ensuring the cottage's legacy remains at the heart of the design," Deering said. "Receiving this award is a true honor and a testament to the success of our collaboration." Presented annually, the Shutze Awards celebrate achievement in traditional architecture, planning, and craftsmanship throughout the Southeast. This year’s winners were announced at the ICAA Southeast Chapter's 19th Annual Awards Ceremony in Atlanta. The awarded project reflects Homeline's ongoing commitment to contextual design, classical principles, and architectural integrity.

More about the awards: In 2007, the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art Southeast Chapter (ICAA Southeast) launched the Philip Trammell Shutze Awards, the first annual regional awards program to recognize the finest practitioners of architecture, interior design, landscape design, and craftsmanship in the classical tradition within the Southeast region. The Awards are named for Philip Trammell Shutze, the Atlanta architect whose work is revered internationally as one of the 20th Century’s most devoted classicists and the first ICAA Arthur Ross Award recipient.
